Featured Destinations
We have two trips that we are featuring this month. Our Amazon trip will depart on May 5 for 16 days. We will arrive in Lima, Peru and check in to Swissotel Lima. The next morning, we will fly to Iquitos to meet the ship that will take us on our journey down the Amazon River. After dinner and introductions, we will depart that night and sail to our first destination, Leticia, Columbia. Our ship will usually sail at night, leaving the days free to explore the river in our Zodiaks. The people along the river here are extremely friendly and enjoy chatting in their native languages with visitors to their area. It is not uncommon to be invited into homes or to meet extended families. Most residents along the river are farmers or fishermen who trade with their neighbors and ships passing by. One family we visited recently exports fine hand-made baskets to the United States. Others trade in herbs, fruits and vegetables, fish, or craft items. Parrot

The second trip we are featuring is to Kenya. We will depart on June 20 and arrive in Nairobi for a brief stay at the Nairobi Serena Hotel to rest and meet our fellow travelers. From there, we depart on a fabulous tour of the Game Reserves in Kenya where we will view magnificient animals in their natural habitat. All safari vehicles have roof hatches for unobstructed photography opportunities, such as this photo of a reticulated giraffe.

Window seats are guaranteed for all members of the group. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided each day. Professional guides will accompany the group at all times. Our guides are English speaking with years of experience in conducting safaris. Our pool of guides includes ornithologist JoAnne Rife, zoologist Jenny Williams, anthropologist Christina Elizabeth, and naturalist Richard Newland.
